With the final week of the spring semester coming to a close, many of you may not think about college again until August. It’s summer break, right? School and summer should never be mentioned in the same conversation, right?
Not so fast! I am guilty of falling into this comfortable mindset every year. See, from the time we’re kids, we are conditioned to think of school as just being August through May. Summertime is for playing, not working!
Okay, so you don’t totally have to abandon your summer fun. But summer is a time to think about the upcoming fall semester and figure out what your school plans will be. Now is the time to think about enrolling; not the week before classes start. There are several items on the back-to-school checklist that take time to complete – filling out and submitting applications, gathering transcripts, enrolling in classes and buying books. Now is the time to get all your ducks in a row for fall.
If you live in Oklahoma, this summer you’ll probably notice the major media rollout for OU Outreach, the parent organization of the College of Liberal Studies. Starting June 1, we will be stepping up our presence on TV, radio, billboards and online. Hopefully, these reminders will help you realize that it’s your degree – go get it!
