So you’ve filled out your FAFSA, dutifully sent in required materials, checked your scholarship eligibility and… Now what? If you will be attending OU in the fall, you are probably wondering when your financial aid will be disbursed.

Typically, financial aid at OU is disbursed in several stages. At OU, your semester fees can show up in your Bursar long before your financial aid is due to arrive. If this has happened to you, the first step in the process is simple: Don’t panic! Your financial aid is probably already on its way. Here is a rough guide for knowing when to expect your financial aid (and where) this semester.

  • August 8: Your semester fees are charged to your Bursar account
  • August 15: Financial aid is disbursed to your Bursar account*
  • August 15: ACH Refunds are disbursed to your bank account if you signed up for eRefund
  • August 16: Refunds are mailed to you if you did not sign up for eRefund
  • August 16: PLUS Refunds are mailed to your parents (if requested)
  • August 22: Classes begin!

*Please note that military student tuition waivers are applied after the free-drop period of each session. This helps us ensure schedule accuracy.

And there you have it! In most cases, all you have to do is wait. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have more questions about your financial aid or are worried your aid award might be unusually late.
