45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team Appreciation Night!

To show our appreciation, OU Outreach and the Oklahoma City Thunder are teaming up to honor the 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team at a Thunder game on Wednesday, March 23.

If you’re not already aware, the 45th was recently called up for deployment to Afghanistan. Many guard members have already left for training in preparation for their summer deployment.

Several hundred Thunderbirds and their families have been invited to next week’s game – a small way we can say “thank you” for their sacrifice. The entire game will be framed around recognizing these servicemembers and their families. The honorary Thunder captains and game ball presenters will be children whose parents have already been deployed. A video featuring Sooner and Thunder VIPs will debut at halftime, followed by a special presentation.

Several military and political dignitaries will be on hand, including Secretary of Veterans Affairs Rita Aragon and Maj. Gen. Myles Deering. Outreach Vice President James Pappas, CLS Associate Dean Martha Banz and Outreach Associate Vice President Richard Little will also be there showing their support.

The College of Liberal Studies is dedicated to serving those who serve our nation. This is one way we can give back to those who give so much.
